Nurse gave opportunity for dying grandfather to hear grandson’s heartbeat
An RCN member in Greater Manchester, Sandra Wood, gave a dying grandfather the opportunity to hear his unborn grandson’s heartbeat.
The sister arranged for a Doppler machine to be brought to Roy Smith’s room in the Intensive Care Unit. Roy then sadly died two hours after the scan. Sandra received an Excellence in Care Award from Tameside Hospital.
