NHS efficiency savings
The Daily Mirror has today published a two page sp looking at how cuts are affecting the NHS. The piece notes that the RCN has warned that 56,000 jobs are at risk within the NHS. Dr Peter Carter is quoted as saying: “These vulnerable groups depend on the care of specialist staff, but with hospitals continuing to make deep cuts patient safety is being put at risk.” He also said that: “We know the NHS has to save at least £20bn by 2014, but there are better ways to do this other than cutting frontline staff and damaging patient care.”
